PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR KINDERGARTEN
This is an exciting year. Your child will spend their last year with us and then off to Kindergarten. We want to help get them ready. At this age, they have become more independent and we cannot wait to see their individual personalities come out.
In the classroom, we will work with each child to make sure they are ready and well prepared to enter Kindergarten, we will focus on the following:
- More social skills, creating new friendships with other children
- Finding out what your child likes and what they are interested in
- Speaks very clearly. Knows some basic rules of grammar
- Learning Worksheets that they write on their own
- Simple Math will be introduced, such as solving addition & subtraction problems
- Opposites, sorting, and sequencing
- Knowing numbers 11-20
- Art projects done totally independent
- Exercise & Movement - Mastering more difficult movements
- Sensory & Science - Hands-on activities inside & outside the classroom
- Recite, recognize and write their letters, numbers, shapes, and colors
- Can say, spell their first & last name, address, phone number & parent's names
- Fully understand instructions, and 3-4 part commands
- Able to fully dress & undress themselves
- Understand the concepts of time as well as the weeks & months of the year

ASSESSMENTS FOR KINDERGARTEN READY MATERIALS
These assessments will be done in September, January, and June. They will help us to know what categories your child might be struggling in so that we can create a plan for the entire year. We will share these assessments with you so that you also can see what they know and how they are improving as the year goes on. Together we will work to get your child fully ready to enter into Kindergarten.
